Understanding and Supporting Your Journey

Who we are: At Cadence Point Counselling, we are dedicated to empowering individuals by offering compassionate support and personalized strategies for mental health and personal growth.

Non-Judgmental: Life can be challenging, we can all struggle at times. No one is perfect. Sometimes we need an extra hand to move beyond the challenges we face, to help us see what is unseen in the difficult moment, to be reminded of the incredible human strengths you possesses, that you can harness to make a difference to our own lives. Courage is to reach out when we need support. Together we can make a difference.

Specialisation: We specialize in assisting adolescents and adults to navigate various mental health challenges, including high-performance expectations, anxiety, stress management, and depression, all while focusing on achieving life goals through a holistic approach.

Hope: Our belief is rooted in the understanding that everyone has the potential to lead a rich and fulfilling life, although at times, we may require guidance to reach that potential.

Collaborative: We are here to walk alongside you on your unique life journey, providing the tools and support necessary to help you thrive and embrace a brighter future. Together, we can explore the path to your well-being and personal success, affirming your resilience and capacity for growth.

Our therapeutic interventions aim to collaboratively help you build understanding and awareness of your challenges, to then explore your strengths that can be applied holistically, to make genuine difference to your life. Counsellors:

Alastair is a counsellor who aims to sit with his clients, to listen deeply and hear the underlying messages in their situations. With over two decades of experience across education, wellbeing, and community transformation, Alastair brings a rare blend of psychological depth, creative approaches, and human attunement to his work.

His counselling approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and integrates ACT, MiCBT, and neuroscience with creative modalities such as art, music and storytelling. Whether working with adolescents learning to navigate their world, adults facing workplace or relational challenges, or communities in need of emotional recalibration, Alastair listens beyond words—tracking the deeper patterns and offering frameworks for transformation.

Alastair’s work is grounded in lived experience: from designing therapeutic music programs in drug and alcohol centers, to leading wellbeing initiatives in schools, to mentoring Indigenous youth through creative outreach. He holds a Master of Counselling (High Distinction), multiple mental health certifications, and is a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association.

Clients are invited into a collaborative process—one that filters for resonance, honors discomfort as sacred data, and treats each session as a unique moment to share and work together. With a commitment to transparency, adaptability, and emotional clarity, Alastair offers not just counselling, but a chance to delve into ourselves, to find a way forward more effectively.
